Orange means real guitar amp history. It is now over 50 years since Cliff Cooper founded his company Orange with a borrowed £50. To this day he is the sole owner and he still controls much of the company's fortunes. From the very beginning, not only "rock-solid" British rock amps were manufactured, but also a focus on innovations. With the OMEC Digital, for example, Orange introduced a programmable guitar amplifier back in 1975 (!!!)! Many other innovations followed, including the founding of the so-called lunch box amp format with the introduction of Tiny Terror. All of this did not go unnoticed - in addition to countless industry awards, Orange received the "Queen's Award for Enterprise and International Trade" for the third time in 2012, probably the highest and most honorable award that a company can receive in England!

Crush Bass 50 - Modern to Vintage

The compact Crush Bass 50 Combo borrows from Orange's flagship bass amplifiers AD200 and OB1 and perfectly combines some of the most defining elements of these legendary amps. It's the perfect practice and recording amp, delivering warm, clean bass tones, vintage growl with a fat low end and mixable overdrive.

Like the rest of the Crush Bass range, this 50-watt model delivers powerful and punchy bass thanks to its analog circuitry and bass reflex enclosure. The highly flexible active EQ section includes a tunable parametric midband that allows bassists to shape their signature sound without restrictions. The interactive gain and blend controls provide even more versatility, allowing you to easily create even the craziest sounds in the bi-amping style: additional overtones and adjustable distortion can be mixed into the actual bass tone. This function can also be activated using an optional foot switch. Other practical features include a buffered effects loop, an integrated tuner, aux input and a headphone output with the Orange Cabsim circuit.

Powerful active parametric EQ
The Crush Bass 50 features an EQ circuit that is based on that of the prestigious 4-stroke amplifiers. The focus is on parametric midrange control. This gives the bassist a much greater degree of control over the sound than a traditional EQ, as the frequency to be cut or boosted can be varied. The setting range extends from 300 Hz to 2.7 kHz. This means that this amplifier can be tuned to virtually any style of music! The active circuit allows a boost or cut of up to 15 dB in the bass and mid frequencies and up to 20 dB in the treble.

Mix & Win
The blend and gain controls are derived directly from Orange's OB1 series amplifiers and are a tribute to the many bassists who shape their sound using guitar and bass amplifiers at the same time. In a true bi-amp setup, additional harmonics and distortion from the guitar amp are mixed with the tone from the bass system to create the ultimate sound. The Crush Bass 50's gain and blend controls deliver the same effect in a single package, adding extra bite and freshness to the tone at lower gain settings, all the way up to total dirt with the controls turned all the way up. This feature can also be activated remotely using the optional FS-1 footswitch.

Analogue circuit design and bass reflex housing
Thanks to a purely analog signal path, the Crush Bass series delivers a fat, round sound, even at low levels. The Crush Bass 50 houses a 12-inch driver in its housing with a reflex port for improved bass response. The buffered effects loop was designed with maximum tonal transparency in mind to ensure your “pedal arsenal” can deliver full performance.

Cabsim headphone output, Aux input and chromatic tuner
The headphone output features the popular Orange Cabsim circuit. This emulates the sound of the Orange OBC bass speakers, which is twice as much fun when practicing in silence. The headphone signal can also be used in the studio to enable a truly authentic direct recording. The Aux input allows you to connect external audio sources, e.g. for backing tracks, while the practical integrated tuner always ensures the correct tuning.
